Following the great success of last year’s SPSCA picnic at Lake Sammamish State Park, we are excited to gather once again at the same beautiful location for the 2026 Annual Members’ Meeting and Picnic. We warmly invite all SPSCA members to join us on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the beautiful Kokanee lakeside picnic shelter in Issaquah.

This year, we have moved the event from Sunday to Saturday so that we can also celebrate Italy’s beloved Ferragosto together. The park is conveniently located right off I-90, with easy access and ample parking available. Please note that a Discover Pass is required for day-use parking. Visitors may purchase a one-day pass for $10 + tax per vehicle, or an annual pass for $45, at the park entrance on the day of the picnic.

Board President Emeritus Germán Rodriguez will once again prepare his famous porchetta, truly among the best you will find outside the centro of Perugia, while the rest of the meal will be potluck style.

In the coming weeks, we will send a Sign-Up sheet with additional details, and we encourage everyone to sign up early to help us with planning. During the picnic, we will also elect new board members, making your participation especially meaningful.

We are also delighted to share that Chiara, one of our 2026 Scholars from Perugia, has been invited to join the Ferragosto picnic, and we look forward to giving her a warm SPSCA benvenuto.
